Thanks friend! 🙏🏻 I hope subsequent articles continue to keep you grinning 😊 There are many situations where veterinary intervention is necessary, but there are those where judicious home husbandry provides all that’s needed (or at least enough to stabilize a problem until a vet can help). The key, for vets & animal owners alike, is knowing the difference ✨
Totally agree. Our pup has a tendency to get yeasty sores on her belly after playing in the wet stuff certain times of year. We spent so much money on “special wipes” before just drying her off better and sometime using a bit of diluted ACV or even a lil dab of canestan cream (might make you eye roll I donno). Not to mention they always want to prescribe an antihistamine which is overkill imo since she’s not itching it much.
Anyway there’s my rant. I love this stuff pls keep the posts coming, your Substack is killer!
Rant away! :) Both of those are topical antifungals... The "special wipes" usually contain some form of acetic acid, which would be the antifungal component of your ACV, and are usually prescribed to treat malassezia (yeast) overgrowth. So your home treatments are essentially doing the same job as the Rx.
So glad to have found this Substack! Thanks to Quin from plowing in hope for recommending it.
So glad to have you here! Quinn’s wonderful, I appreciate her tremendously ♥️
Really enjoyed this! Much to our vets dismay, we “home vet” a lot... so I can’t help but grin when reading this post.
